Evaluation of MOBILISE pre-departure program

We are pleased to share the findings from our recent pre-departure program survey. These insights are crucial in informing the MOBILISE team that the participants started their traineeships well prepared.

As part of their preparation for the mobility period, our MOBILISE trainees had successfully completed a pre-departure training program. This included theoretical and practical exercises covering diverse topics related to the horticulture sector. Designed to ease the transition of trainees into the Dutch work and study culture, the program also featured a visit from the project management team to Egypt, Ethiopia, and Tunisia for a pre-departure meeting with students. Additionally, a webinar was delivered to provide insights into everyday life and culture in Dutch society.

The trainees have largely expressed their satisfaction with the timely communication of information and instructions during this period. The majority of them felt that the pre-departure training effectively prepared them for the traineeship ahead. The topics covered were found to be relevant and beneficial in helping them achieve their personal goals and acquire new skills.

Practical assignments and group work were particularly appreciated, with many of them noting that these activities significantly enhanced their teamwork and practical skills. The balance of theoretical and practical knowledge in the in-country preparation was also well-received, contributing to a comprehensive learning experience.

Support from university staff and the MOBILISE project team was highlighted as a positive aspect of the preparation process. The traineeship guidebook and online webinars provided valuable information that helped them feel more prepared for working and living in the Netherlands.

However, there were also suggestions for improvement. Some participants indicated a need for more comprehensive English training and psychological support to better manage the transition. Additionally, there were requests for more intensive sessions on academic report writing and cultural adaptation.

In summary, while the pre-departure training has been effective and well-received, we recognize the importance of continually enhancing our program. We are committed to incorporating their feedback and ensuring that future participants are even better prepared for their international experiences.
