The success of the MOBILISE program hinges significantly on the active participation of Dutch horticulture companies. After months of diligent efforts and continuous dialogues, the project team has secured traineeship placements and housing for37 international trainees.
A total of 20companies are participating in this first pilot phase. While eight additional companies were willing to host trainees, accommodation could not be secured in their vicinities. These 20 companies are distributed across six Dutch provinces: Drenthe, Friesland, Gelderland, Limburg, North Holland, and Overijssel, with notable clusters in IJsselmuiden and near Venlo.
Among the participating companies, there is a diverse mix of specializations. Eight companies focus on vegetable greenhouse production, while three are dedicated to seed breeding. Four companies specialize in producing plants and flowers, and five are involved in open-field vegetable production. These companies will offer trainees the chance to engage in diverse activities, gaining insights into the main technical aspects of production and post-harvest cycles, as well as the overall managerial operations.
Several of these companies already have business interests in Egypt, Ethiopia, or Tunisia, either through direct investments or trade partnerships. Others are keen on exploring business development opportunities in these regions. The training of these young talents from the three countries is expected to build bridges to these new markets, fostering future collaborations and growth.
The dedication and involvement of these Dutch companies are instrumental in the implementation and success of the MOBILISE program, providing invaluable experiences and opportunities for the international trainees.
