Donia Karam’s path from agriculture studies at Kafr El Sheikh University to her current role at Daltex shows how international experience can support a smooth transition into professional practice through MOBILISE.
Donia Karam is a graduate of the Faculty of Agriculture at Kafr El Sheikh University, where she ranked first in her department. With a strong interest in plant production and agribusiness, she is currently working at Daltex Corporation as a Chemical Engineer in the Chemical Control team within the Quality Management Department. Her role involves monitoring and evaluating chemical parameters related to agricultural inputs and processes, ensuring compliance with quality standards, supporting quality assurance procedures through accurate analysis, documentation and coordination with other departments.
Her MOBILISE internship at Wiersum Plantbreeding in the Netherlands immersed her in a professional work environment and exposed her to various advanced agricultural practices, complemented by the use of modern agricultural techniques, continuous guidance, and meaningful feedback to improve performance. Donia shares that the MOBILISE traineeship helped her become more confident, disciplined, and adaptable, which facilitated her transition into a large company like Daltex.
From her internship, she gained a great set of skills that she currently makes use of. The most significant skills are teamwork, attention to detail, and following structured work protocols. She “learned how to document observations accurately and communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues”, she adds.
Working in the Netherlands with an international team introduced her to diverse work cultures and high professional standards, teaching her flexibility and open-mindedness, skills that now support her work at Daltex, helping her collaborate effectively across different teams and appreciate the importance of coordination and clear communication in a large agribusiness company.
MOBILISE helped Donia bridge her theoretical knowledge with real market needs, which she applied by “being more solution-oriented at work and focusing on practical outcomes rather than theory alone”, she explains.
Looking to the future, she would like to continue developing her expertise in agriculture through advanced studies and professional experience. She hopes to lead innovative, sustainable agricultural projects that improve food security and support wider economic development.
Drawing from her experience, Donia encourages future participants to make the most of the experience, stay open to learning, and step outside their comfort zone.
Donia’s story demonstrates how MOBILISE can unlock life-changing opportunities for participants willing to fully commit and embrace the exprience.
